The flow of molten steel and its main hazards in slab continuous casting mold are briefly described. As an example, numerical simulation results of two typical bias currents caused by SEN freezing and turbulence in a slab mold are introduced. The non-contact MHD (magnetic fluid mechanics) technique for controlling bias current and its effect are reviewed, and the detection method for evaluating the current control effect is reviewed.
