It has been shown that the passive transfer of γ-globulin in adult serum of malaria-endemic areas can have a protective effect on malaria patients. To identify such protective antibodies and corresponding epitopes, the authors identified a P. falciparum (P.f.) cDNA expression clone using a previously identified, discerning immunoassay.
