常州市各中等学校上学期已普遍地先后在物理教学中实施了基本生产技术教育。但在学期末作总结时,物理教师们一致感觉到自己对新型企业的生产过程与操作过程很陌生,因为过去所学习的知识是与生产实际脱节的。市教育局领导上了解了教师们的这个困难后,便接受了教师们希望了解实际生产过程的要求,与市工业局联系,决定利用寒假间隙,选派一批教师下厂实地参观见习。这次下厂参观见习共十天,是到地方国营常州机器厂去。每天有半天时间进入车间具体研究,另半天时间对照一些构造图进一步深入消化,或研究一些见习时碰到的问题。在参观前,先由参观见习者提出此次参观的目的和要求,然后由该厂领导上考虑安排。总的见习过程是这样的:
