I. INTRODUCTION The G-801G Ocean Proton Gradiometer has a high resolution of the total magnetic field, automatic correction of diurnal variations and a measure of the gradient as an additional geophysical variable, which substantially improves the quality of marine magnetic data And effect. The proton gradiometer system is easy to install on a geophysical vessel and interoperates with existing seismic and gravity equipment to further enhance the overall investigative capabilities. The G-801G uses two synchronized high-sensitivity G-801 marine proton magnetometers to simultaneously measure the total magnetic field of the Earth by towing two sensors one after the other at a distance from the same cable. The total magnetic field and gradient (differential measurements between the two sensors) are recorded in real time on a dual analog tape recorder. In the meantime, the total field for each magnetometer can be digitally recorded (a total of 12 BCD characters) for efficient computer filtering, correction of navigation errors, and derivation of the total magnetic field for time-domain elimination. The Gradiometer system is most effective where magnetometer base stations can not be used, especially in very active magnetic fields such as magnetic poles or magnetic equatorial zones
