Mammals, including humans, supply most of the blood of the pituitary gland from the hypothalamus-middle uplift region via long portal veins. However, animal experimental studies have shown that the blood supply is also retrogradely transported from the hypothalamus, via the short portal vein, and forms a torroidal blood flow in the pituitary. The authors performed studies on the secretion of PRL in 10 cases of patients undergoing microsurgery for pituitary tumors when they collected blood from the pituitary stalk to study hypothalamic catecholamine secretion. In short, on the day of surgery, 3 days before surgery, and 3 days after surgery, the hypothalamus was collected synchronously—
