According to the principle of acid catalysis, the rate constant KM of simulated reaction of acid catalyzed formic acid decomposition to carbon monoxide was determined by a self-designed device. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the KM value reflects the size of the catalytic activity of the acid and can be used as a reference for the preparation or selection of a new catalyst
