Since the Qing Dynasty, tea gardens have been places for the entertainment of Tianjin people. Since the early Republic of China, traditional operas have undergone a new development with the changes of the times. The audiences have higher requirements for performance space, , Stage equipment and business model also gave birth to challenges and changes. The tea garden has been transformed to adapt to the new demands. The appellation has also changed from “Tea Garden” to “Stage”, “Garden” and even “Theater”. The representative cinemas draw more on the design and service concept of foreign theaters. The performance space of the new “stage” or “theater” is more rational and modern than the old tea plantation stage.
