地洼区形成的较晚性与地洼区构造型相的强烈块断性,是华南地洼型花岗岩特征形成的基本原因。因形成较晚,则陆壳变厚,并使岩浆旋回的顺序改变,花岗岩浆能穿越较多构造层产生地球化学作用;且成岩物质经长期演化,重熔与岩浆分异反复进行;又因地洼区构造以断裂为主,强烈而频繁的断裂作用,对岩浆活动与变质作用均影响较大。故地洼型花岗岩有种种特征;构造岩浆旋回中的特征;硅铝层重熔花岗岩大占优势的特征:物质成分上的特征:地质产状上的特征及地洼型混合岩化花岗岩等等的特征。华南地洼型花岗岩因在岩浆演化系列中的早晚不同,及所处空间构造性质与岩浆来源不同,特征上就产生较大变异,故地洼型花岗岩应分门别类。地洼型花岗岩特征应是与地槽型或地台型花岗岩总的比较来说,应是同一较小地区两类花岗岩对比而言,或两大类之下所划分出的同一类型对比而言,例如地洼型花岗岩中与地槽型花岗岩中的S型花岗岩对比等等。
