The authors used chloralose, urethane anesthesia, muscle paralysis, artificial respiration of 24 domestic cats. Electrical stimulation of the paraventricular hypothalamic nucleus (PA) for 12 seconds (n = 9) with 0.1-0.5 mA, 80 Hz, 0.2 m square wave pulses produced a significant increase in blood pressure. Twenty-two of the maximal response sites were located in the dorsal and medial parts of the PA. Eleven loci had an increase in heart rate at 17 loci with a decrease in heart rate and no change in heart rate at 14 loci, all of which were located in the anterior portion of PA. Electrolytic damage to the caudal hemicentral nucleus (NTS) cauda equina (n = 5), the PA induced electrical stimulation and heart rate changes were not significantly different from the damage before, the above results show that PA is the regulation of cardiovascular activity One of the important mid-pull; NTS may not participate in the stimulation of PA-induced hyperuricemia.
