In the manufacture of diamond tools, pure cobalt has been predominantly used as the carcass material to bind and bond diamond abrasive particles. As Co is a precious metal and the high cost of production. In response to this situation, this paper proposes to use relatively low cost foreign NEXT alloy and its additives instead of pure cobalt, and laser welding into finished products to do the comparative experiment. Firstly, LSM240 automatic laser welding machine is used for welding, and then the mechanical properties of materials, laser welding process parameters, weld microstructure and cutting experimental data are analyzed. It is found that the porosity of the weld is about 8% and the strength is 1800Mpa after using NEXT alloy. The carcass material has stronger binding force on the diamond abrasive grains, the service life of the diamond tools has more than doubled, and the diamond is easy to cut out. The sharpness better. Experiments show that using NEXT alloy instead of pure diamond has good industrial application prospects.
