  Visiting Xi’an was once my dream. It became a reality when I was admitted to a training course in China along with two other (lady). Finally, the day arrived I landed at Xianyang International Airport in early August. As soon as I landed, I (feel) a change in the atmosphere. I saw people standing in queues (wait) for their turn at the immigration desk. Afterwards, we were transported to the office in the International Exhibition Centre. China had invited participants twenty-three developing countries to share digital television broadcasting techniques with them.
  In my 20 days in Xi’an, I got the opportunity to observe Chinese culture closely, and thus left an unforgettable mark on me. Now, Xi’an is like my second home. Since I came back to Pakistan, I have been missing Xi’an (bad).
  My 20-day stay in Xi’an was a great experience. It was a learning opportunity, and also a chance to (broad) my understanding of diversity. I learned that despite (different) of colors, races and religions, all human beings (tie) by the bond of humanity, and that the future of nations is global with development and peace.

  The clock struck eleven at night. The whole house was quiet. Everyone was in bed me. Under the strong light, I looked sadly before me at several (pile) of that troublesome stuff they call “books”.
  I was going to have my examination the next day. “ can I go to bed?” I asked (I). I didn’t answer, in fact I dared not.   The clock struck twelve. “Oh, dear!” I cried. “Ten more books to read before I can go to bed!” We pupils are the most ( happy) creatures in the world. Dad does not agree with me on this. He did not have to work so hard when he was boy.
  The clock struck one. I was quite desperate now. I forgot all I (learn). I was too tired to go on. I did the only thing I could. I prayed, “Oh, God, please help me pass the exam tomorrow. I do promise (work) hard afterwards, Amen.” My eyes (be) so heavy that I could hardly open them. A few minutes later, with my head on the desk, I fell (sleep).

  When Dad told me I was going to take a scuba diver training course, I was really excited. I thought I’d be like those people on TV (play) with fish.
  In the pool, Rob, my instructor, demanded we do what he did. One of the drills (be) to take our masks off at the bottom of the deep end, replace them, clear them of water. I wasn’t doing that because I couldn’t open my eyes underwater or keep water out of my nose. I (terrify) and made excuse after excuse about I couldn’t do it. Rob walked over and said, “Alaya, you don’t have to do this if you don’t want to. Nobody is forcing you.” Though I said I wasn’t going to do it, my (foot) carried me toward the pool.
  With my eyes tightly (close), I dived in and made my way to other end. The water felt unnatural against my face. I (quick) threw on my mask and started clearing it of water. Rob gave me thumbs up. I learned a big lesson: there is nothing to fear but fear (it).

  I was once asked to deliver a speech 1 (title) “A Real Test in My Life” before the whole class. Just imagine how 2
  (terrible) shy I was the moment I thought of that with so many eyes fixed upon me. I had no other 3 (choose), however.
  First I was to draft the speech and that was just a piece of cake for me. But the hard part 4 (lie) in my presentation; I had to give the speech 5 my memory. A real trial began when I stood on the platform with my legs 6 (tremble) and my mind blank. How much time had passed by, I didn’t know. My listeners were still waiting. Gradually I found myself back, giving out my speech with difficulty. Finally I finished. After 7 seemed to be a hundred years, I found my audience applauding. I made it!   According to a recent survey, violence did exist in schools. Students 1 (show) their fear, and parents and teachers also expressed their great concern about it. 2 (expert) hope the whole society will pay more attention to the mental health of adolescents.
  Nowadays, school violence is 3 hot issue. I think this is a phenomenon, 4 calls for our great concern.
