The characteristics of the present stage of railway transportation development are to increase train weight and operating speed, increase the utilization intensity of vehicles and increase axle load. This actually requires further improvement of the strength, durability and operational reliability of all vehicle components. It is particularly important to increase the life of the whole drum and improve the wear resistance. Choosing and using a reasonable wheel tread shape is one of the effective ways to solve this task.
