Article 36 of the Kushiro Tunnel Design Code states that “construction of tunnel linings in flooded formations, subject to load calculations, should take into account the synergy of hydrostatic pressure and formation pressure, taking into account the buoyancy of water.” However, as to how to make it concrete, so far no clear instructions have been given. In the past, when we studied the tunnel regulation, some formulas were put forward (see the article on the study of the tunnel section in the specialized institutes). It was pointed out by a letter from Comrade Cen Yu Rong in the hospital that the theory seemed to be lacking in theory. Here to understand our experience in further learning, to talk about the initial understanding of this issue, hoping to start a discussion and draw a reasonable answer. When the tunnel is in a submerged formation, such as a saturated soil layer below the groundwater surface, its soil particles are suspended in the water, the pressure of the formation to which the lining will be subjected will decrease as the bulk density of the soil decreases
