The Eighth Geological Science and Technology Award of China Geology Society was successfully completed in December 2001. As of December 1, 2001, all geologic institutes, professional committees and provincial Geological Societies of China Geological Society recommended a total of 117 candidates for the Youth Geoscience and Technology Award. The candidates work units are located in various departments of the geological industry in China. From December 14 to December 15, 2001, 24 experts from the Institute of Geological Society of China, with academician Chen Yuchuan as the review team, conducted a careful and detailed assessment of the shortlisted candidates
