Vol. 31, No. 15, 1980, p. 115 (1980) reported that the East German neurosurgeon achieved a significant effect with an electrode stimulator for the treatment of pain. This device is similar to a pacemaker, with a stimulation electrode (with a very thin metal wire, less than 1 mm in diameter). Stimulation of electrodes through a needle to deliver current to the spinal cord of the central tube. The electrode is located on the back of the spinal cord, which transmits pain to nerve fibers in the brain.
