The Allen Clark Research Center of the United Kingdom prepared a 10.6μm Pb_xSn_ (1-x) Te diode with a detection of 10 ~ (11) cm ~ (1/2) W ~ (-1) at 77 ° K. Peak response is at 12 and 13 micron diodes, which detect more than 50% of the 180 ° field-of-view background. If the diode is biased to a zero volt point on the Volt-Ampere curve, 1 / f noise can be neglected when measuring between 70 Hz and 50 kHz. The same result can be obtained by placing the diode on the DC-to-DC input of an active grounded current amplifier.
