On July 10, 1995, Zhang Hongwu, a senior engineer of the Yellow Sea Hydrology Research Office, took a thesis entitled “Study on Similarity of Flood Model in the Lower Yellow River” and defended his doctoral dissertation at Tsinghua University. This paper starts with the discussion of the basic law of movement of sediment-laden water flow and conducts a special study on the sediment-carrying capacity, flow velocity and sediment concentration distribution along the water depth and the equations of motion of suspended matter.
