一般认为大陆拉伸与火山作用是互补的,但盆岭省某些高度拉伸部分的地层和构造数据却揭示出快速拉伸似乎具有受到抑制的火山作用。这一关系可能反映了在拉伸过程中由岩浆挥发分的出溶作用、岩浆与大气水的不断作用及岩浆进入较小岩体的排出作用产生的中地壳岩浆的增强结晶作用。因此某些裂谷环境以大体积的同拉伸深成作用为特征,却没有或很少伴生火山作用
Stratigraphy and tectonic data are generally believed to be complementary to continent stretches and volcanism. However, the stratigraphic and tectonic data of some highly-stretched parts of the Pelouring province reveal that rapid stretching appears to have a suppressed volcanism. This relationship may reflect the enhanced crystallization of the mid-crust magma caused by the dissolution of magma volatiles during the stretching process, the continuous action of magma and atmospheric water, and the discharge of magma into smaller rocks. Therefore, some rift environments are characterized by a large volume of the same extensional depth but with little or no volcanism
