In order to facilitate the rational use of phosphate fertilizer in Beijing, it is necessary to find a simple and effective method for analysis of available phosphorus. In the past two years, we have conducted field fertilizer application experiments in collaboration with Beijing Agricultural Science Institute, and studied and improved the 0.5M sodium bicarbonate extraction method for soil available phosphorus analysis. According to the comparative test results of more than 50 field phosphate fertilizers in 1963 and 1964, the correlation with the available phosphorus measured by the modified sodium bicarbonate method is very consistent.
