邵武蜜桔也称乳桔,是柑桔类中品质较好的一个品种,分布于邵武城关一带,栽培历史约60余年,种植面积达200余亩。邵武蜜桔在栽培过程中,已逐渐发生了变异,在现有植株中,无论在果实外形上及肉质上差异甚大。为了摸清蜜桔各品系的产量,品质及其特征特性,以便发掘优良品系,为今后繁殖推广提供依据。1957年上半年进行闽西北地区果树调查时,初步了解了该地蜜桔的大果系、小果系、无核系等三个品系的特性及经济性状,同年11月果熟期又进行田间观察记载,并取回果实样本40—100个,作室内形质检定,初步找到8个品系,为证实各品系固有的特征特性1958年11月又进行复查、复检,并确定为五个品系。
