After Japan defeated World War II, in order to escape war crimes, especially to cover up the historical truth of the massacre in Nanjing, the authorities took such measures as burning down evidence and misleading the public in an attempt to obliterate the widespread massacre of the Nanjing massacre in Japan memory. The U.S. government, under the influence of the Cold War in East Asia, experienced a series of changes from the harsh investigation to the indulgence of peace talks in handling the war responsibilities in Japan. These reasons ultimately led to today’s Japanese citizens not having formed a common memory of the history of the Nanjing Massacre, On the issue of Japan’s right-wing denial of the massacre in Nanjing, most people are indifferent to their attitudes, which in turn has created a great gap between the two peoples in their historical understanding.
