在欣赏汤亭亭的《女勇士》一书的过程中,读者会不断地被文中的一些被赋予了强大的文化象征意义的中国的民间传说和神话典故深深地感染并无不为之动容。本文通过对这些神话和民间传说的分析及解读试图说明华裔文学中所包含的丰富内涵,同时也进一步指出汤亭亭并没有为了曲意逢迎西方人的审美标准而践踏中国的民间传说和神话典故。相反,她是从一个亚裔作家的角度试图将中国传统文化与美国精神进行不断调和以便努力实现两种不同语言文化之间的融合。
While admiring the book of The Woman Warrior by Maxine Ting, readers are continually infected and deeply moved by some of the Chinese folklore and myths that have given them strong cultural symbolism. Through the analysis and interpretation of these myths and folklore, this article attempts to illustrate the rich connotations contained in Chinese literature, and further points out that Maxine Hong Kingston did not trample upon the folklore and myths of China in order to meet the Westerners aesthetic standards. Instead, she attempts to reconcile the traditional Chinese culture with the American spirit from the perspective of an Asian writer so as to strive for the integration between the two different languages and cultures.
