离子交换作用的现象,早在一百多年前就发现了,但在种类和应用方面都是非常局限的。应用在净水方面还是近四十年来的事情。在1935年最早的碳质及合成离子交换剂制造成功以后,它的种类及广泛应用,才有极大的发展。特别是在近年来经过许多的改良,离子交换剂巳能具备各种物理性能以提高它的交换量。于是不同的酸硷度的阳或阴性离子和各种类型的交换剂,巳经大量应用在新的化学工业、医药、农业和元素分离上,特别在原子能利用方面,有很重要的价值。
