The world economic pattern dominated by the “big triangle” in East Asia, North America and Europe is taking shape. However, the development of the trilateral relations is not balanced, mainly because the relations between Asia and Europe are still weak. French President Jacques Chirac called for Asia and Europe to establish a strong cooperative relationship for economic prosperity. The ASEM held in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, in early March this year was the first dialogue dialogue on an equal basis since the end of the colonial relations between Asia and Europe. The “President’s Statement” issued by the conference set the basic framework for future Asia-Europe relations and put forward various follow-up activities of the ASEM. The first Asia-Europe Business Forum held in Paris in mid-October was one of the important components of the follow-up to the ASEM. This meeting shows the strong aspiration of Asian and European countries in developing economic and trade cooperation between the two continents.
