由于上述因素,台湾厂商就把自己的产品定位在低端。销售地区也泾渭分明,台湾的产品基本集中在亚太地区,双方是“井水不犯河水”。今年由于计算机工业发展速度的减缓,导致产品滞销。一些欧美著名的显卡厂家纷纷把视线转到亚太地区,而挤进一个新市场最快的办法就是打价格战。以MATROX的MGA系列显卡为例,1996年它的平均价格为300美元,而台湾厂商象华硕、丽台的显卡平均价格为70美元。去年MGA的价格降到140美元,台湾厂商的平均价下降了10美元,到了50美元。而到今年,MGA的平均价格降到了60美元,台湾厂商尽管也降了价,但也只能保持在40-50美元左右。价格已不再是台湾厂商的主要优势。
