This article is the first to report the 1,25- (OH) _2D_3 TRH-induced release of TSH reported. There is an interaction between the secretion of pituitary hormone and the vitamin D endocrine system. Both prolactin (PRL) and growth hormone (GH) have been found to promote renal conversion of 25-OHD_3 to 1,25- (OH) _2D_3. TSH, on the other hand, has the opposite effect, at least in vitro in rat kidneys.
