Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) may show significant hypoxemia and a variety of ventricular and supraventricular arrhythmias during apneic episodes. With polysomnographs, the frequency, type and duration of apnea, the degree of arterial oxygen saturation, and the complex relationship with the type and incidence of arrhythmia can be recorded and observed in OSA patients. Guillominault recently found no regular changes between hypoxemia and ventricular arrhythmias, and Zwillich et al confirmed that there was a significant positive correlation between the decrease in oxygen saturation and the degree of bradycardia during apnea. Usually longer episodes of apnea will result in more
