应该说,接受任何一门艺术,都是从接受某种形式开始的,接受戏剧艺术也同样。因此,在深刻理解、把握剧本内在意蕴的基础上,寻找适合于揭示、体现该剧作内涵的独特舞台形式,是导演工作的一个重要内容。不同的艺术门类固然因所使用的艺术语言的不同而具有不同的形式,即使是同一门类的艺术,由于我们所面对的具体作品的不同,也会具有各别的形式。特别是导演艺术,毕竟是在剧作者一度创造的基础上进行的,其中必定包含着导演者个人与剧作者以至不同导演者不同的理解、感受,因而他所创造的舞台形式也必定有有异于剧作者和其他导演的独特之处。从事导演工作而又忌谈形式,甚至把舞台形式模式化,显然是不利于戏剧舞台的繁荣的,无形中也扼杀了导演的创造。
