Irving West’s Virginia shows a picture of life in the western United States of the 1880s, portrays a romantic image of a cowboy, and uses the love story of cowboys and country teachers to signal the contradictions between the east and west Going. It not only reflects the true western part of the United States, but also makes a political allegory on the development of the country. While pursuing the “American Dream,” we must correctly handle the relations between the east and the west and pursue the pursuit of economic development while retaining the valuable spiritual qualities in the west. This is of great reference to China’s economic and cultural development.
