１９１７年底，梁启超等研究系主要成员退出了政坛。反思政治活动屡遭挫折的教训，他们决心从思想文化上重新努力，造就新人才，以图将来东山再起。《改造》（原名《解放与改造》）杂志的创办就是其文化活动的重要方面。但迄今为止，学术界对这份杂志尚无专门研究。五十年代出版的《五四时期期刊介绍》，虽有专文进行评价，但今天看来显得过于片面。以往的梁启超研究中涉及到《改造》的地方，也往往语焉不详，多限于对该杂志的发刊词的介绍。本文试图就现有资料对梁启超与这份杂志的关系进行梳理，并从这个角度考察梁启超及研究系后期文化活动的一些特征。
By the end of 1917, the main members of Liang Qichao and other research departments withdrew from the political arena. Reflecting on the lessons of repeated setbacks in political activities, they are determined to make renewed efforts from their ideological and cultural backgrounds and bring forth new talents in the hope of a comeback. The founding of the “Transformation” (formerly known as “Liberation and Transformation”) is an important aspect of its cultural activities. But so far, academics have no special study on the magazine. The Introduction of the May Fourth Periodicals, which was published in the 1950s, although it has been evaluated by the monographs, appears to be too one-sided today. In the past, the research on Liang Qichao involved “transformation”, which was often absent, mostly confined to the introduction of the magazine’s published articles. This article attempts to sort out the existing data on the relationship between Liang Qichao and this magazine, and from this point of view Liang Qichao and some characteristics of post-cultural activities of the research department.
