主要从事黄土的基本性质、矿化结构、强度与变形、边坡稳定与地基处理,土石坝筑坝材料与粗粒材料填筑特性、应力变形分析、坝体与坝基渗流控制,土工建筑物原型观测技术以及土的动力特性等方面的试验研究。主要试验设备有:土的物理、矿物化学、力学试验设备,高压三轴压缩仪,高压大型三轴仪,多功能自动自记三轴仪,圆筒试样循环荷载扭转三轴仪,差热分析仪与偏光显微镜,三向渗流电拟试验设备与电力积分仪,相对密度调频振动台,工程钻机等。可对外承担基本土性及各种设计参数的室内及现场试验,土石坝(包括灰坝及尾矿坝)、堤防等各类土建筑的应力变形分析、加固处理,土建工程的地基处理,各类特殊土工问题的协作攻关、开发研究与技术咨询业务。
