以Reid类群系8112作母本,旅大红骨类群选系360选为父本杂交育成了玉米新杂交种——GS豫玉11号(90—1)。该杂交种在1990~1991年河南省玉米区试中比对照种增产14.9%,居首位;在1992~1993年全国夏玉米区试中,晋、鲁、豫、皖、苏五省平均比对照掖单2号增产15.7%,居首位。在全国10多个省试验示范中,比对照种增产8.7%~47.5%,多居一、二位。群体叶面积变化为前快中稳后慢的曲线,植株氮代谢水平高,干物质积累快,总量大,分配合理,经济系数高。高抗多种病害,竖叶大穗,综合性状优良,品质好,中熟,适应性广,制种产量高,适合中等以上肥力地种植
