In the past, the diagnosis of early cleft caries often use the diagnosis, exploration, light through and bite flap, but both deficiencies. Pincus first proposed the use of electronic detection of early cleft caries. In this study, the Vanguard electronic detector was used to detect fissures and the accuracy of several live caries detection methods was compared with the histological observation. The authors selected 48 premolar and 2 molars removed for orthodontic treatment.
