The main effect of the small seeker scale factor error on optimal guidance can be determined by some of the limitations of a seeker-directed missile that uses a strap-on seeker to intercept a stochastic maneuver target. These effects include changing the feedback gain and increasing the acceleration component of rapid fluctuations. The latter is mainly used to improve the estimation of the scale factor, even though this parameter error does not significantly deteriorate in the performance criterion of the optimal guidance law. The criterion is the standard quadratic criterion, which mainly maximizes the weighted average of missile terminal velocity and interception probability. For the second criterion, proportional navigation is the optimal guidance law if there is no scale factor error. The numerical results given in this paper are given.
