Work of the IECrnSince 1906, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has been developing essential International Standards for all electric and electronic devices and systems. While Standards for units of measurement (gauss, hertz, and weber) as well as terms and definitions were crucial over 100 years ago, some of the current areas of work now include smart LEDs, low-voltage DC, big data security, internet of things, smart cities and smart energy and other innovation. Conformity Assessment is an equally important part of the IEC, ensuring that products function safely and efficiently with each other.
