Starting with test validation of the full-size development phase (FSD) and the multi-functional military transportation system, Bell-Boeing has expanded its V-22 FSD cockpit functionality with an ever-evolving, interactive design and evaluation methodology that seeks to reduce pilots’ Work load and improve the efficiency of the implementation of the mandate. The cockpit system design team consists of different professionals, including pilots, avionics and systems engineers, human resource engineers, cockpit system engineers, back-office staff and government officials in the Operations and Integrated Test Team. The design team established a basic structure of the V-22 Cockpit Management System (CMS) for the Engineering Manufacturing Phase (EMD) through interactive analysis, design review and partial mission simulation. And in the final stage of pre-flight development, a system full simulation (FTS) test was carried out.
