壁画是当代艺术教育与文化建设中具有重要意义的专业门类。但目前中国高校的壁画专业设置不尽相同,有的院校专业建制独立,有相对完整的教学体系;有的院校虽有专业设置,但学科思路和方向不太清晰,教学体系不够完善;有些专业院校及大部分综合大学的美术系科只设置一些相关的专业课程。在学科归属上,有的依托传统美术学科,归属造型艺术范畴;有的依托新兴设计学科,归属公共艺术范畴。相当部分院校存在教学方向不够明确,学科体系不完备的问题。
Mural painting is a major category of contemporary art education and cultural construction. However, the mural professional settings of Chinese colleges and universities are not the same at present. Some colleges and universities have independent professional systems and relatively complete teaching systems. Although some colleges have professional settings, the disciplines and directions are not clear and the teaching system is not perfect. In some professional institutes and most general universities, the Art Department sets only some relevant professional courses. In the discipline attribution, and some relying on traditional art disciplines, belonging to the category of plastic arts; some relying on emerging design disciplines, belonging to the category of public art. A considerable part of the existence of teaching institutions not clear enough direction, discipline system is not complete.
