Couplets, also known as “couples”, commonly known as “pairs of children,” began in the Five Dynasties and flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There have been more than a thousand years of history. As a unique combination of Chinese language arts and calligraphy art, the couplets not only occupied a certain status in the splendid culture and art treasures of China for 5,000 years, but also radiated an extraordinary splendor in the halls of world literature and art. The couplet was developed from the dual-sentence of legal poetry. It requires the coordination of neatness and harmony. These features have some similarities with the legal poetry, so some people call the couplet the “posted poem.” However, the couplet is different from poetry. It only has the upper and lower associations. Generally speaking, it is more refined than poetry, and the sentence structure is also more flexible, but it can be lengthy or short and flexible. The couplet can be four words, five words, six words, seven words, eight words, or it can be ten words or dozens of words. In our ancient buildings, there are even long links of up to several hundred words. Whether the couplets express their aspirations or express emotions, they all require the authors to have high summarizing power and the ability to master the texts. Only in a few words can they achieve literary ambivalence, have both divine and ideological forms, and give people ideas and arts. The feeling of the United States. The name is good and right. What we show here is only a very small part of it. It is a drop in the ocean. It is hoped that it will help readers appreciate our unique and precious literary heritage.
