能歌善舞的蒙古民族在千百年的历史发展过程中,创造了绚烂无比的民族音乐,堪称人类音乐文化宝库中的瑰宝。隋唐时期,蒙古人的祖先生活在内蒙古大兴安岭原始森林——额尔古纳河流域,以狩猎和采集为生,产生了蒙古族最初的音乐文化,我们从遍布蒙古高原上的北方游牧民族的岩画中便可追溯到蒙古族歌舞的最早渊源。研究这一时期的音乐文化,有助于我们了解和掌握蒙古族音乐的独特形态和风格。
