峨眉山玄武岩P_2β属晚二迭世早期喷发物,总厚227—420米,顶部有古风化壳。在峨眉龙门洞地区古风化壳厚约十余米,呈层状产出,分带清楚。在此背景上沉积了沙湾组的湖沼—河流相沉积物。从植物群组合来看(Lepidodendron cclunsfelis, L. lepidoph-loides, Stigmaria ficoides, Lepidostrobophyllum sp., Giganfonoclea sp,Gigantopl-eris sp., Lobatanmularia sp., Fasciptaris sp.)应属晚二迭世晚期。
