In “The Scribe Butterby: The Story of a Wall Street,” the old lawyer who represented the American middle-class 19th-century class failed to explain the uncertainties of scribe Patty Butterby. His failure reveals the limitations of the capitalist religious, materialist and rational views. The image of “wall” in the works represents the barrier of communication between people. This barrier is precisely caused by the invisible wall of ideology. His work satirizes the narrow-mindedness of the bourgeoisie in treating “aliens.”
