在纪念反法西斯战争胜利五十周年的日子里,人们不会忘记在南京大屠杀的腥风血雨中挺身而出,为保护受难中国妇女不遗余力的金陵女子文理学院(简称金女大)美籍教务主任明妮·华群女士。华群(1886—1941)于1911年不顾亲友劝阻,来我国从事教育事业。1919年在金女大任教务主任后,设立实验中学,列教育学为全校必修课,完善了金女大的师范学院规模。在日军迫近南京时,她毅然自愿留守金女大校园,奋不顾身地保护了上万妇孺。1937年12月13日,日军占领南京,随之对手无寸铁的中国人进行了长达6个多星期的血腥大屠杀,死难者达30余万人,尸横遍野。他们还大肆奸淫妇女,大规模地抢
