铸造半铜含碳1.3~2.4%,是介于钢和铁之间的一种材质。用它制造的轧辊由于从轧辊辊身表面到心部硬度落差很小,因而特别适合制造辊身带有孔型的型铜轧辊。但这种材质轧辊铸造过程易出现粗大的碳化物,利用热处理难于解决。在半钢轧辊的热轧过程中粗大的碳化物受热应力、热冲击破碎、脱落造成辊面缺陷被迫停止使用,另外、冲击韧性低弓断辊。为了改善这种状况,在半铜轧辊中加入稀土后取得预期效果。
