广州柴油机厂铸造车间离心铸造生产的6300型柴油机缸套,自1969年底投产以来,质量稳定。但对缸套外模的预热,却一直采用将外模立排地面,烧木柴烘烤。每炉次平均预热21只外模,耗木柴1.5吨左右,才能使外模预热至可上涂料温度,烘烤时间达1小时。造成整个车间烟气弥漫,劳动环境很差,严重影响工人身体健康。在批林批孔运动的推动下,铸造车间革命职工,敢想敢干,结合本车间生产场地小、无法建造预热炉的实际情况,自制成功地坑式缸套外模加热炉(见图),经一年多生产试用,使用效果良好。
