王少林是江西省著名的二胡演奏家、二胡作曲家和教育家,是中国著名二胡大师马友德早年的得意传人。1963年他在第四届“上海之春”首次全国二胡比赛中获奖(预赛第一名)。在该年的第7期的《人民音乐》中,中央音乐学院的张韶教授对最优秀的四位选手做了高度评价,王先生是其中之一,且文中用了“最为突出”的字眼对他的演奏艺术给予肯定。几十年来,先生对江西的二胡音乐艺术做出了突出贡献,把江西的二胡艺术从一个非常落后的局面引领到现在人才济济的崭新界
