Dear Editor,rnBipolar disorder (BD) is a chronic and disabling disorder characterized by manic, hypomanic,or depressive episodes, with an estimated lifetime prevalence ranging from 1% to 5%.Globally,it is a leading cause of disability and a socioeconomic burden.Gene-environment interactions are thought to be involved in the neurobiology of BD,with genetic factors contributing to 60%-85% of BD patients.

The correct differentiation of oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs) is essential for the myelination and remyelination processes in the central nervous system.Determining the regulatory mechanism is fundamental to the treatment of demyelinating diseases
Increasing evidence suggests that a cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP)-dependent intracellular signal drives the process of myelination.Yet,the signal transduction underlying the action of cAMP on central nervous system myelination remains undefined. In
Investigation of pain requires measurements of nociceptive sensitivity and other pain-related behaviors.Recent studies have indicated the superiority of gait analysis over traditional evaluations (e.g.,skin sensitivity and sciatic function index [SFI]) in
Fenofibrate,an agonist for peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-α),lowers blood pressure, but whether this action is mediated via baroreflex afferents has not been elucidated. In this study, the distribution of PPAR-α and PPAR-γ was assesse
Recently, a paper published in Science reported discovery of sensory peripheral glial cells [1].This paper demonstrated a rather unexpected property of non-myelinating Schwann cells (also known as Remak cells) dwelling in the subepidermal border of the sk

The complex spatial and temporal organization of neural activity in the brain is important for informationprocessing that guides behavior.Hence, revealing the realtime neural dynamics in freely-moving animals is fundamental to elucidating brain function.Mi
Voltage-gated sodium channels (Navs) play an important role in human pain sensation. However, the expression and role of Nav subtypes in native human sensory neurons are unclear. To address this issue,we obtained human dorsal root ganglion (hDRG) tissues fro
MicroRNA-365 (miR-365) is upregulated in the ischemic brain and is involved in oxidative damage in the diabetic rat. However,it is unclear whether miR-365 regulates oxidative stress (OS)-mediated neuronal damage after ischemia. Here,we used a transient midd
We used Drosophila melanogaster as an experimental model to express mouse and pig BM88/CEND1 (cell cycle exit and neuronal differentiation 1) in order to investigate its potential functional effects on Drosophila neurogenesis.BM88/CEND1 is a neuron-specif
