作为广义的文化形态的工艺美术,是经济与文化、科学技术与艺术、物质文明与精神文明的统一体,它是民族文化水准的标志。工艺文化的发展又与社会生活以及生产方式的变化有着直接而深刻的联系。关于工艺文化本质的探讨,既是对工艺本身的反思,也是一项重要的基础理论研究。这种研究,不能脱离实际,也不能局限一个角度,它必须多侧面地反复地探讨,通过不同观点的阐述和争鸣以期获得比较全面而透彻的理解。正是基于这一认识,在“求索与争鸣”专栏,以“文明的支点”为主题,就工艺美术和工业设计的基本概念,工艺文化与当代社会生活以及审美心理,工艺美术生产与科学技术之间的关系等问题展开学术讨论。我们相信,随着讨论的不断深入,对工艺美术在新时期改革大潮中如何发挥其应有的作用,在认识上会更加明确,并将深化对工艺美术基础理论的研究。这期编发了柳冠中、李砚、文冯的文章,作为一家之言,他们的观点当会引起读者的思考。在这里我们热切地欢迎所有关注着工艺美术事业的现状并关心它的发展的同志,写出有材料、有观点、论述深入的文章,来参加讨论。
