爱尔兰伟大的戏剧家伯纳·萧(Bernard Shaw.1856—1950)在1932年出版了一本篇幅不厚、名叫《黑女寻神记》(The Adventures of the Black Girl in HerSearch for God)的小说。
In 1932, Bernard Shaw, the great playwright of Ireland, published a book called “The Adventures of the Black Girl in Her Search for God.” Fiction. The novel became the sought-after bestseller at the time because it was furnished with more than a dozen brilliant woodcut illustrations. The book’s achievements have enabled woodcuts to re-enter the stage of British literary illustrations. The woodcutter was John Farley of the United Kingdom (1900-1965). His skill and sophistication were particularly commendable for the beauty of the black girl under his knife. It should be said that the book’s success Effective in the writers and painters co-operation. It is said that Xiao plotted what the plot was for the work, made specific suggestions, and personally made sketches for the woodcutters’ reference. The illustration here is reproduced from the original book published by Constable in 1932. The original book was very cheap at that time, only two shillings and sixpence. It sounds like Tempo legacy, simply unbelievable.
