After phosphorylation of cAMP-responsive element binding protein (CREB), it is involved in the transcriptional regulation of various target genes induced by cAMP. Recent studies have shown that CREB transcriptional regulation may be through the CREB binding protein (CREB-bindingprotein, CBP) to achieve. In the nervous system, CREB may mediate neurotransmitter-induced gene expression and may participate in the biological effects of proliferation, differentiation and survival of nerve cells by amplifying signals of neurotrophic factors.
