The World Health Organization’s Western Pacific Office held a regional working group meeting on the actual research of community rehabilitation in Lidcombe, Australia from July 25th to 29th, 1988. Fifteen professional workers from nine countries and regions including China, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Vietnam and Laos attended the conference. The meeting exchanged information on the progress of community rehabilitation in various countries and regions; based on the development of work in recent years, participants discussed the basic connotation of community-based rehabilitation (community participation, appropriate and appropriate technologies, and transferability).
